Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! Motherhood, although hard work and challenging at times, is the most fun and the most wonderful blessing I ever received! Here are a few random things I love about being a mommy: 1) I Love You's: When M-kid looks at me w/ the sweetest smile that will just melt your heart and says "I love you Mommy" followed by the biggest squeeze and wettest smooch. 2) Bedtime: Reading books and laying w/ M-kid before he goes to sleep. During this quiet time, we cuddle, say our prayers, and talk about our day. I am going to take advantage of this time as long as I can and treasure it always. 3) Saturday mornings: When M-kid climbs in our bed for some quality cuddles and giggles. No rush to get up and go...just enjoy the time together. 4) Re-living my childhood: Watching the joy reflected in M-kid's face while he runs through the sprinklers, carries the cat around by his neck, uses his imagination while playing w/ his toys (or rocks and sticks), splashes in the bathtub, plays in the sand at the beach, eats an ice cream cone, finds a cool bug, and sees/experiences something for the first time in his life. 5) School pick-up: Big smile that spreads across M-kids face and the running hug when he sees that Mommy is there to pick him up. 6) Silliness: Plain ol being silly together 7) Artwork: the scribbles, paintings, and all the lovely artwork that M-kid creates. 8) V.I.P: Knowing that I am a Very Important Person in the eyes of my child. 9) Firsts: Experiencing all the amazing stages, milestones, firsts. 10) First Kicks: And in the very, very beginning, feeling that amazing movement from within - the flutters, kicks, and rolls. And here are some random "funnies" and "sayings" that I've been recording in the past few months: M-kid Funnies Age 3 - Look they are doing Biss-strution (construction) - It’s a bise-peet. The snake said that. Bise-peet, really? What the heck does that mean? - Mommy, you look like the ice cream man (towel on my head after shower) - “Look, it’s Maverick’s roast beef” (roast beef = Fris-bee) - While getting ready for school, he says “I don’t want to be a boy” I responded “You don’t? Do you want to be a girl?” He says “No, I want to be a pony” Later that day, I figured it out. He wanted me to do a ponytail in his hair! His hair was long and I tied it up in a pony tail the day before. Age 3 ½ - Answering “poop” with a smile on his face to every question or making a fart noise. - Look Mommy (while stretching out his arms), look how much I am growing. I am getting BIG and STRONG (stated in a husky voice). - Curiousity and asking "WHY" about everything. Sayings - I love you - You are my best friend - Give me a big kiss - You are my super hero - Praying before bed and talking about Jesus being in his heart and is watching over him – he then says “and Jesus is in your heart and watching over you, and your baby” - You're a good mommy, mommy. OMG, it just about melted my heart the way he said it with such a sweet smile on his face. THOSE are the moments that make EVERYTHING totally worth it. God, I just love being a mommy.

Happy May! We've been busy, as usual, taking it day by day. A little worried and stressed about our future job situations, but trying to trust that somehow everything will work out....and praying that the economy takes a turn for the better sooner rather than later! More importantly, we are focusing and praying for a healthy baby. M-kid is showing more interest and excitement as Mommy's belly grows bigger. He is going to be a SUPER big brother. Just a few more weeks to go (hopefully), and our little one will be here. We are just about ready! I can't believe how quickly the last few months have gone. Happy Spring

Happy Spring! Hope everyone had a nice Easter. We had a good time visiting our family in So-cal. The trip was short and sweet. M-kid had lots of fun finding Easter baskets, hunting for eggs, spending time w/ his grandparents, and playing with his cousins.

M-kid has been SUCH a big boy lately. He is learning to do lots of things on his own and loves helping out! He can get dressed all by himself. Lately, he has really enjoyed riding his big (little) boy bike w/ his neighborhood friend (who is just his age!) He is learning to swing on the big kid swings (and is sooo proud of himself for using his strrrooong muscles to scoop woodchips with the “digger” at the park). Daddy has been prepping him for soccer – they practice before school opens in the mornings – M-kid is a natural! He has been helping us shop at the grocery store (and occasionally tries to sneak stuff that he wants in the basket) and helping Mommy make dinner and set the table. In other news, we are in the process of preparing for baby. I have been in nesting mode, trying to get everything organized. We have had good luck finding good deals on craigslist and receiving hand-me-downs. Being seasoned parents of a newborn, we are more aware this time of what we really do need. And it does not need to be brand new!

2009 so far

I started writing the Holiday bit below before Christmas hit….and well, now it’s March. Yeah. Happy Holidays everyone! We have been getting ready for Christmas in our home. It is so exciting since it is our first “Holiday Season” in our home. I say that because we will be around for the holidays, but will be gone the week of Christmas visiting my family. I am really looking forward to it since it’s been a few months since we’ve seen them! M-Kid is really excited about Christmas this year, as he is getting older and understands what it all means a little better. He had a lot of fun helping pick out and decorate the Christmas tree. He also talks about what Santa is going to bring him. Well the Holidays went well. We enjoyed spending time w/ our Nor Cal and So Cal families. Happy 2009 - hope this year brings lots of blessings for everyone (and lots of prayers for everyone going through tough times). As most of you know, we are expecting a new addition to our family this June. Stay tuned! Here are some pics from Halloween & Christmas, of me and my babies, Daddy & Mav, and look at our BIG boy!!!

On another very personal note…I am turning 30. It seems like such an official age to be. Like I am supposed to be “all grown up” now which I guess in many aspects I am. Even though I still feel like a teen sometimes. I vow to never really “grow up.” I do have to say, that I have everything and have done everything I wanted to do by the time I was 30. Of course, there are lots more adventures to be had. I would like to give some thanks to very important people in my life. Thank you Mom for bringing me into this world. Thank you Dad for being there. Thank you to my parents for raising me – I would have to say you did a pretty darn good job! I have fond memories of my childhood. It seems so long ago!

Hair Cut and Singing Along

Happy Birthday!

M-Kid is officially 3. He is such a big boy now. These past 3 years have flown by. We have the time of our lives with him. He constantly puts a smile on my face and in my heart. Here are some pics from his birthday:

Wheeeee!!!! Three!!!

Happy Birthday (almost) to my sweet little boy. Not much baby left in him, but he will always be my baby. M-Kid is growing into the most wonderful little boy. Being his mother is such a joy. He brings all kinds of smiles to my face. He gets smarter by the minute and really surprises us! This morning, they had a little mini-birthday celebration for him at his preschool. They made him a birthday crown and everyone sat in a circle and sang Happy Birthday to him. He also got birthday cookies and blew out a candle! The best part was when the teachers asked the children to volunteer and say something nice about him. There was a "I like his crown" and a "I like his shirt" and a "He's so handsome" but my favorite one of all was when this little girl said "He has a beautiful heart" She just about nailed it right there. I got a little tear in my eye.

So, one of my favorite songs came on this morning, and it is very suiting for the occasion. The lyrics are really very touching and really sums up what I would like to say to him each and every birthday he has.
